Performance of the PTB reconstructed primary clock CS1 and an estimate of its current uncertainty

چکیده
The paper describes the current performance of the primary clock CS1 of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB). The clock employs a thermal atomic beam and magnetic state selection. After major reconstruction during 1995 and 1996, routine clock operation was restarted in May 1997. Results of comparisons with UTC(PTB) and other internationally recognized time scales are presented. An evaluation of the CS1 Type B uncertainty yielded 7 10–15 (1 ). The CS1 is thus the most accurate atomic clock in continuous operation world-wide.

Comparisons of the PTB primary clocks with TAI in 1999
The primary clocks CS1, CS2 and CS3 of the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) have contributed to the realization of International Atomic Time, TAI (Temps Atomique International), throughout 1999. Their operation, their performance and the uncertainty with which they realized the International System of Units (SI) second are described in some detail, together with the results and assoc...
متن کاملRecent Time and Frequency Activities at Ptb
Recent activities in the field of time and frequency metrology pursued at PTB are reviewed. Quasi-continuous operation of the cesium fountain frequency standard CSF1 enabled us to assess the performance of the older primary clocks CS1 and CS2 much better than previously possible. On average, the CSF1 and CS2 frequencies deviated by less than 5 parts in 10 during more than 2 years, which is well...
متن کاملThe PTB primary clocks CS1 and CS2
The primary clocks CS1 and CS2 have been developed and operated by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, Braunschweig, Germany. By their contributions to the definition of the scale unit of International Atomic Time they have provided access to the realization of the SI second over decades with exceptional accuracy. They have stood out against other primary clocks by the novelty of their d...
متن کامل918-t Annual Precise Time and Time Interval (PTTI) Meeting COMPARISON OF ATOMIC FREQUENCY STANDARDS AT NIST AND PTB USING CARRIER- PHASE GPS
We have constructed a link between Physikalisch-Techniche Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Braunschweig, Germany and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Boulder, Colorado using carrier-phase Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers. The link will provide a direct measurement of the frequency difference between UTC(PTB) and UTC(NIST), and can also be used to provide a direct comp...
متن کاملan Optimum Resource Allocation Model for Airport Passenger Terminals (RESEARCH NOTE)
According to the current Airport planning and design practices, for a given demand level there is a corresponding space requirement. While in practice, there are always trade-offs between cost and levels of service, labor and automation, equipment and fixed facilities, and expansion of existing facilities and the addition of new ones. In this research, the airport passenger Terminal Building (P...
